Product Introduction
ATTO MB2 is a derivative of the well-known redox dye Methylene Blue. The dye can be reversibly reduced to the Colorless leuko form. Upon oxidation (e.g. with oxygen) the dye recovers, and the absorption is fully restored. The dye is suitable for labeling of DNA, RNA, proteins etc. In common with most ATTO-labels the dye shows a high extinction coefficient.ATTO MB2 is moderately hydrophilic.find more information here

Application
ATTO MB2 is a fluorescent molecular beacon dye designed for nucleic-acid hybridization assays, where fluorescence is controlled by a distance-dependent quenched-to-bright response upon target binding. Its ATTO fluorophore format supports robust probe construction for real-time fluorescence readouts, making it a practical component for assay developers working with sequence-specific detection workflows.
1. Molecular Beacon Hybridization
ATTO MB2 is used to build molecular beacons for sequence-dependent fluorescence detection of nucleic acids in solution and on hybridization platforms. Researchers and assay development teams incorporate ATTO MB2 into stem-loop oligonucleotide probes to generate a target-induced fluorescence increase, enabling monitoring of hybridization events with standard fluorescence instrumentation used for probe-based nucleic acid analysis.
2. Real-Time Nucleic Acid Assays
ATTO MB2 supports real-time fluorescence workflows where beacon-style signal switching is leveraged to report the presence of complementary DNA or RNA sequences. Molecular biology groups and diagnostic reagent developers use beacon constructs incorporating ATTO MB2 to create fluorescence-based readouts that are compatible with plate readers and real-time PCR-style fluorescence monitoring setups, supporting multiplexing strategies when multiple beacon colors are deployed.
3. Probe Design For Oligonucleotides
ATTO MB2 is frequently selected during oligonucleotide probe development for applications requiring a defined fluorescent label position within a hybridization probe architecture. Oligonucleotide chemists and chemical biology teams use ATTO MB2-labeled beacon designs to tune assay format choices such as probe length, stem stability, and labeling geometry, aiming for reliable target-dependent fluorescence behavior in nucleic acid detection experiments.
4. Fluorescence-Based Genotyping Workflows
ATTO MB2 is applied in genotyping and sequence discrimination studies where beacon probes provide a fluorescence response that changes upon correct target pairing. Research groups use ATTO MB2-containing molecular beacon reagents to support comparative analysis of sequence variants in controlled assay formats, using fluorescence measurements to distinguish hybridization outcomes across different target oligonucleotides.
