    Background

BOC Sciences is committed to providing customers with high-quality cyanine5 dyes.

Cyanine 5 is a class of reactive dyes that absorb ultraviolet or visible light. These dyes convert short-wavelength light to long-wavelength visible light and reflect it away, resulting in bright colors. These dyes require small amounts of organic co-solvents (such as DMF or DMSO) to label reactions and are ideal for labeling soluble proteins, various peptides and oligonucleotides, and small molecules in organic solvents.

    Characteristics of Cyanine 5 Dyes

Cyanine dyes are a relatively old class of fluorescent dyes, which are the basis of other fluorescent dyes in brightness, light resistance, quantum yield and other aspects. Cyanine 5 fluorescent dyes are characterized by isomerization and have the following four main characteristics: (1) When used to label antibodies, they are suitable for flow cytometers equipped with 633nm argon ion lasers. (2) They can be used for FL4 channel detection. (3) Small molecule dyes with lower fluorescence intensity than APC. (4) They bind more non-specifically to monocytes and granulocytes, and are prone to false positive results.

    Application of Cyanine 5 Dyes

Cyanine 5 fluorescent dyes can be used alone or in combination as compound fluorescent dyes. Cyanine 5 complex fluorescent dyes are fluorescent dyes synthesized by fluorescence resonance energy transfer technology. They are composed of donor and acceptor fluorescent molecules that are very close to each other and can transfer energy between each other.
For fluorescence, Cyanine 5 dyes are very sensitive to their surrounding electronic environment, which can be used for enzyme determination. Conformational changes of attached proteins can lead to positive or negative changes in fluorescence emission. In addition, Cyanine 5 dyes can be used in FRET trials. The Cyanine 5 fluorophore is also the basis for the lipophilic neuronal and long-term DiD cell tracing reagents.
