    Background

BOC Sciences is committed to providing customers with high-quality sulfo-cyanine5.5 dyes.

Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes are near-infrared (NIR) fluorescing cyanine fluorophore dyes that provides a great signal-to-noise ratio due to the fact that almost no biofluorescent background sources are emitted in their range. Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes are blue or dark blue solids, soluble in chloroform, methanol, acetonitrile, DMF and other organic solvents, easily soluble in water, and should be protected from light, dried, and stored at -20 ℃.

    Characteristics of Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 Dyes

The main structural formulas of Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes are shown in Fig.1. Sulfo-Cyanine 5.5 dyes have five carbon atoms between pseudoindole groups. The excitation peak (Ex) of Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 is 678 nm, the emission peak (Em) is 706 nm, the extinction coefficient (εmax) is 250000, and the quantum yield(Φ) is 0.18. Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes are sulfonated modified Cyanine 5.5 dyes with good water solubility. Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes have high extinction coefficient, bright fluorescence and are not sensitive to pH, and their fluorescence wavelength happen to be in the region of near-infrared window I of body tissues (blood, body fluids and tissues in this region have weak background fluorescence and strong long wavelength penetration). They are often used for in vivo imaging of small animals. Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 can be used to label proteins, peptides, biomolecules,etc. Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes are more stable and less prone to hydrophobic aggregation due to their strong water solubility and electric charge.

    Application of Sulfo-Cyanine5.5

In practical applications, Sulfo-Cyanine5.5 dyes often appear in the form of sulfo-cyanine5.5 NHS ester, sulfo-cyanine5.5 azide, sulfo-cyanine5.5 amine. Sulfo-Cyanine 5.5 dyes are the reagents of choice for the labeling of antibodies, sensitive proteins, and others which require reactions in pure aqueous environments, or without any significant additions of organic co-solvents. They are well suitable for non-invasive in vivo NIR imaging, and for the applications requiring low fluorescent background. It is important to note that, sulfo-cyanine5.5 dyes are non-medical, non-medicinal, non-edible , and cannot be used for clinical diagnosis in humans or animals, and is only for scientific research or industrial use.
