Exo-BCN acid ethyl ester is a bioorthogonal click chemistry reagent featuring an exo-bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne (BCN) core with an ethyl ester-protected carboxylic acid group. The exo-BCN moiety enables strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC) without copper catalyst. The ethyl ester serves as a protected carboxylic acid, which can be hydrolyzed to enable further conjugation with amines or other functional groups. It is used as a synthetic intermediate or precursor for the preparation of BCN-functionalized biomolecules and probes.
