Product Introduction

BODIPY FL SSE is a green-fluorescent dye that is reactive with primary amines on biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, modified nucleotides and biopolymers. It is non-ionic, and relatively insensitive to environment and pH changes. The sulfosuccinimidyl ester has been sulfonated to improve the water solubility and to improve the reactivity with primary amines in aqueous solvents.

  • Application

BODIPY FL SSE is a highly fluorescent dye characterized by its ability to emit bright green fluorescence upon excitation. It is part of the BODIPY (boron-dipyrromethene) family, which is known for producing highly photostable, bright, and non-toxic fluorescent compounds. The "FL" in its name refers to its green fluorescence, and "SSE" indicates its suitability for applications such as cellular imaging, biomolecular labeling, and environmental monitoring. Due to its high quantum yield and stability, BODIPY FL SSE is widely used in both research and industrial applications.

One key application of BODIPY FL SSE is in cellular and molecular imaging. The dye is commonly conjugated to proteins, peptides, antibodies, or other molecules to visualize and track their movement in live cells or tissues. It allows for high-resolution imaging, making it particularly useful for studying cell dynamics, protein localization, and intracellular interactions. Researchers can track the behavior of specific molecules in complex biological systems with excellent sensitivity.

Another application of BODIPY FL SSE is in fluorescence-based assays for biochemical research. The dye is used in assays to monitor molecular interactions, enzyme activities, or ligand binding. Its fluorescence emission provides a straightforward method for detecting changes in biological systems, making it valuable in drug discovery, biomarker analysis, and screening for potential therapeutic compounds. The dye’s high stability and strong fluorescence signal are advantageous in high-throughput screening (HTS) settings.

BODIPY FL SSE is also employed in the development of chemical sensors for detecting changes in chemical environments. Due to its fluorescent properties, it can be used to monitor parameters such as pH, ion concentrations, or chemical reactions. The dye’s fluorescence changes in response to specific chemical signals, making it useful in environmental monitoring, chemical process control, and sensing applications.

Lastly, BODIPY FL SSE plays a role in diagnostic imaging, where it is used as a tracer or probe in molecular imaging techniques. By tagging molecules of interest, the dye enables researchers to detect and visualize molecular targets in vivo, aiding in early disease detection and monitoring. Its ability to provide sharp and stable fluorescence enhances the sensitivity and accuracy of diagnostic imaging, particularly in cancer research and other medical diagnostics.
