Product Introduction

BODIPY FL C5 is a green-fluorescent dye that is reactive with primary amines on biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, modified nucleotides and biopolymers. It is suitable for live-cell membrane experiments. This carboxylic acid may react with amines using a carbodiimide like EDAC or DIPC and to form ester-linked conjugates or acid-halide products. It is relatively insensitive to environment and pH changes.

BODIPY FL C5 is a fluorescent dye that belongs to the BODIPY (boron-dipyrromethene) family, known for its bright green fluorescence and excellent photostability. The "C5" designation refers to the five-carbon chain attached to the BODIPY core structure, which influences its solubility and utility in various applications. This dye is commonly used in biological research, particularly in fluorescence microscopy, live cell imaging, and biomolecular assays.

One key application of BODIPY FL C5 is in protein labeling and tracking. The dye can be conjugated to proteins, peptides, or antibodies, enabling researchers to visualize the distribution and movement of these biomolecules within cells or tissues. This makes it an essential tool in studying protein localization, trafficking, and interactions in live cell environments.

Another important use of BODIPY FL C5 is in the study of lipid membranes and cellular compartments. Its hydrophobic properties allow it to integrate into lipid-rich environments such as cell membranes and lipid droplets. Researchers use this dye to investigate membrane dynamics, lipid metabolism, and the behavior of lipid-based molecules, contributing to a deeper understanding of cellular processes like endocytosis and membrane fusion.

BODIPY FL C5 is also valuable in high-throughput screening (HTS) assays, particularly in drug discovery and development. The dye’s fluorescent properties enable the detection of binding events, cellular responses, or enzymatic activities in large-scale screening efforts. It is often employed to identify compounds that interact with specific biomolecular targets, facilitating the identification of potential therapeutic agents for further development.

Lastly, BODIPY FL C5 is used in environmental and chemical sensing applications. Due to its sensitivity to changes in its surrounding environment, this dye can be incorporated into sensor systems designed to detect changes in pH, ions, or other chemical substances. Its fluorescence shift upon interaction with specific analytes makes it a valuable tool for monitoring chemical reactions or environmental conditions in real-time.
